Dispatch from the Head Sherpa

When technology lets you down, who is to blame?

When you look at your business and the systems that keep it functioning, can you honestly predict when they are going to fail? When is it a foregone conclusion to refresh your technology? Are you prepared for an extended outage due to weather, power or other conditions? How slow or unreliable does something need to be to warrant replacement?

If you can't answer these questions, or if you never even thought about them, then you are like most business owners – and that's why we stress preparedness. These are all very valid questions, but only valid if asked before a work- stopping event. The answers to these questions determine your present risk - how you choose to address these questions determines your risk profile. Here at MySherpa®, we make risk tolerance education part of our services line up. Business owners and managers learn to evaluate their systems and work with the Sherpas to reduce risk and avoid work stoppages.

As our businesses become more reliant on technology, our risks actually increase – we help business owners identify increasing risk in order to manage their technology dependency and costs. What is the good of having all the latest technology, if you don't have a plan to maintenance it, replace it, or have backup systems?

The best way to avoid costly business outages is to regularly look at the way your business is changing and evaluate how your risk level has changed, too. Then you can plan for failures and have contingencies in place to prepare for the inevitable. This is what the Sherpas do best – help you avoid the pitfalls on your journey, and succeed in getting you to the summit.

If you'd like to discuss your business risk, or have other questions, feel free to reach out to us at any time at 302-781-3006.

Best,

Greg
