Jess H here, stepping in to welcome you to 2014! Sorry it’s been so long since you last heard from us – we’ve been busy getting all of our great ideas and new plans in motion.
Windows XP replacement projects are going live (and doing great!). The Sherpas are busy testing and deploying lots of new and great technology products.
Just in time for the holidays, the nasty CryptoLocker is rearing its ugly head on computers near you. What is it? It’s a brand of malware, known as “ransomware”. What does it do? It comes in via emails that appear to be from Fedex, UPS, Wells Fargo, American Express and other big name corporations.

As our clients and colleagues upgrade their systems, we're often asked about what they can do with the old equipment. And we always, ask, have you thought about electronics recycling? It is secure, it can be low-cost or free, and you know your items won't end up in a landfill.

Fall is undeniably our busiest time here at Sherpa HQ, and for good reason. This quarter, we’re focusing on helping our clients get ready for the end of support of Windows XP. At twelve years old, this is the OS that most of us Windows users know the best (and love for business!).
Arguably one of the greatest operating systems Microsoft has ever released, XP will not have any future programming support officially by April 8th, 2014. If you’re running a desktop or laptop with XP, you could face vulnerabilities if you don’t update your machine to a newer system.
IT managed services firm MySherpa promoted Ethan Tancredi from VP of Operations to President Sherpa to oversee all daily operations and employees at MySherpa.
He joined MySherpa in 2005 and has held various positions through the company’s growth.
Tancredi is highly valued for his keen ability to relate to clients and decipher their IT needs, leading to their satisfaction with the company’s work.
